Corporate Office Creative Travel
This 50,000 sq foot office for a dynamic, youthful and vibrant travel company catering to a bespoke clientele, won our firm multiple national and international awards in 2019.
A remarkably successful synergy between the clients and us as architects resulted in a building that tries to ease itself into its semi industrial and rapidly gentrifying office area with a sharply delineated yet quiet form that places precedence on maximal wellness for all its occupants with ample natural light and views of greenery.
Discarding the glass box aesthetic, the materiality of the built form merges industrial materials likeĀ a raw steel framework with more polished materials into a visually complex and articulated exterior using a restrained material palette, while the rows of planters suspended from the steel work make greenery itself a core feature of the exterior. Edgy elements and details from the car suspended in the entrance foyer and sculpture and art scattered around the building make it as vibrant as its occupant company.
The building incorporates many sustainability oriented features from passive design features like deeply shaded low E exterior glazing and a skylit atrium enabling maximally day lit and naturally well ventilated work-spaces for energy conservation, post-tensioning technology to reduce steel consumption, zero use of quarried stone or hardwoods to active features like grey water recycling for horticulture, especially of the planter screens which cool the micro-climate around the work-spaces and extensive solar PV generation.
